There’s nothing better than a relaxed weekend drive. Feel your stress melt away as you hit the open road and plunge into a good dose of nature and beats. If you're feeling a little overwhelmed at work, it's time to head for the hills, so to speak, the mountains are always calling.  We’re talking… day tripping outside of beautiful Brisbane. Feel the pressures of city life slip away as you cruise along the freeway to find your secluded spot, turn off the engine, feel the earth under your feet and breath in that pure forest air.

Pack yourself a picnic and hit the road, ready to explore the best Brisbane has to offer.

Here is our list of the best scenic drives in sunny Brisbane:

Scenic Rim: Little compares to this breathtaking, varied landscape. The towering majestic mountains, sweeping paddocks and lush rainforest that adorn this pocket of heaven.
You could easily spend days exploring the area. Have your camera ready on the Boonah-Rathdowney road and any of the sweeping Tamborine Mountain’s roads (won’t disappoint!).  If you're feeling adventurous - take a turn off the main road into the forest and drive through the towering pines that line some of the dirt roads. Spectacular scenery.

Mt. Nebo Road: 15 minutes from Brisbane CBD and you’ll be cruising along the edge of Brisbane Forest Park through to Mt. Nebo and Mt. Glorious. Wind your way through local villages, subtropical forest and bay glimpses. Stop for a good old-fashioned milkshake along the way in the local cafes (said to be some of the best shakes in the country!). We recommend packing a picnic but if you forget, there are many cafe's that line this scenic drive.

Steve Irwin Way (AKA Glass House Mountains Tourist Drive): Named after our iconic Aussie crocodile hunter, this road boasts spectacular mountain views and hiking opportunities with lots of glorious lookouts. Take your time weaving your way along the roads to take in the mountain landscape that lines both sides of the road. If you need more than just a dose of nature… (perhaps a bit of action-inspired adventure!...) pull in and check out the famous Australia Zoo or Big Kart Track (Australia’s largest Go Karting track).

Old Gympie Road: Weaving through the mountains – an opportunity to get a close-up view of the stunning Mt. Ngungun and Mt. Coonowrin. Enjoy the farm scenery that surrounds you as you drive through the changing landscape. This is a great drive to really get a sense of life in this area.
We adventured in the new MG GS.
